Association pour la Promotion des Arbres Fertilitaires (Association for the promotion of self-pollinating trees)

  1. Project for village agroforestry field schools in market gardens in three Niességa villages in the Zondoma (a northern region 140 km from Ouagadougou), in partnership with ARFA http://www.ongarfa.org

Beneficiaries: three groups of growers from the three villages.

Expected outcome: defensive hedges and windbreaks around the fields, self-pollinating trees and fodder trees planted in open fields, fruit trees and moringa olifeira planted in rows of the self-pollinating trees.

Activities: raising awareness of environmental issues, training nursery growers, planting hedges and self-pollinating trees, developing and producing a repellent against stray cattle (monitoring, evaluation and funding: 1) vegetable production, 2) annex productions (fodder, wood, other products from these trees), 3) producers’ income, and 4) soil properties).

  1. Village agroforestry field crop project in Cassou in the Ziro, a central-west region 100 km from Ouagadougou.

Beneficiaries: a group of six “great family farmers.”

Expected outcomes: hedges surrounding the fields, self-pollinating and fodder trees planted in open fields, fruit trees planted between rows.

Activities: planting hedges and trees, developing and producing a repellent against stray cattle, monitoring and evaluation.

We are proud to support this very ambitious, concrete project. Led by field practitioners, it is complementary to the work done by Terre & Humanisme.
